Michael Mann started playing percussion in 7th grade and became the timpanist of his high school band. The Monticello High School Concert Band excelled and achieved the first perfect score in the New York State band competitions.
At MIT he played timpani in the Concert Band which performed many commissioned compositions. During his time at MIT Michael performed with the Harvard Radcliffe Orchestra and the Brookline Civic Symphony, which performance honored the great conductor/composer Leonard Bernstein.
In Miami, Michael was the timpanist for the Greater Miami Symphonic Band for many years. He has performed under Colonel Arnald Gabriel (ret.) and is working to bring into fruition an Instrumental Promotional Series for Beginners. Five years ago, Michael began playing with the Northeast Florida Conservatory Concert Band. He has been playing timpani in the Saint Augustine Concert Band since its historic inception in 2015.
